Photography has always held a special place in my heart since I took a GCSE in it at school. It allows me to capture moments and tell stories without uttering a single word. As life became hectic, I stepped away from my camera to concentrate on family and my business. Recently, I felt a pull to return to it, so I decided to dust off my equipment and immerse myself in photography once again.

Choosing the Right Gear

I've had a Nikon DSLR since 2008, and it has been reliable. However, I wanted to improve my photography with a new camera. After exploring various options, I decided to purchase a professional Canon 6D camera equipped with a 50mm prime lens and a 28-135mm lens, perfect for capturing both portraits and landscapes.

Finding Inspiration

The inspiration for my renewed interest in photography stems from a new stage in my career, where I help with nursery and school photography. To refine my portrait skills, I've been conducting complimentary photoshoots at a local children's outdoor crafting session where I volunteer every Wednesday.

Embracing the Process

Photography has taught me that the process is just as important as the final result. I've accepted that not every picture will meet my expectations. For example, during a recent local Brunch event, I took numerous photos, but only a few turned out well. I've rediscovered my passion for editing, using Photoshop to enhance my images and experimenting with various colour tones and xmp settings.

Setting New Goals

As I advance, I am establishing new objectives for myself. I aim to explore various photography genres, such as street photography, landscape, and macro photography. Additionally, I want to concentrate on enhancing my technical abilities, with a focus on exposure, composition, and lighting.

The Joy of Photography

Rekindling my passion for photography has been a rewarding experience. Whether I'm snapping spontaneous shots of my cat or creatively posing children for their pictures, every photo narrates its own story. I'm unsure where this renewed journey will take me, but it brings me joy, and I'm excited to make up for the years I spent away from the camera.
